In addition to being a UFC commentator, comedian, actor, and host of the immensely popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Joe Rogan is a highly experienced martial artist. Rogan holds black belts in BJJ and taekwondo, and he has experience in kickboxing, boxing, and Muay Thai. In other words, Joe Rogan is a very tough dude.
Joe Rogan Rolling Footage
Despite Joe’s enthusiasm for and proficiency in BJJ, there isn’t much rolling footage of him out there. Although it isn’t clear why this is, it probably has something to do with Joe’s celebrity status. Regardless of the reason for the lack of Joe Rogan rolling footage, a thorough search through the bowels of YouTube reveals a few glimpses into Joe’s BJJ skills over the years. Although the quality of some of these clips isn’t great due to the age of the footage, and it’s unclear where Joe was at his stage of BJJ development when the footage was captured, it is nonetheless interesting to watch Rogan in action.
Clip #1: Joe Rogan Arm Triangle
This first clip, uploaded to YouTube way back in 2007, features Joe Rogan hitting a nice arm triangle on an unsuspecting training partner. Joe has often expressed his love of head and arm chokes on his podcast.
Clip #2: Joe Rogan vs. Anthony Galdi
In this next clip, uploaded to YouTube in 2008, Joe rolls with a teammate named Anthony Galdi. If you’re expecting HD-quality footage, look elsewhere. However, if you can get past the poor quality of the video, this footage provides an interesting look into Joe’s BJJ game at the time.
Clip #3: Joe Rogan Choking Everybody
This last clip, shot at Tenth Planet Jiu Jitsu Headquarters back in 2009 by Submissions 101, features Joe executing a few of the chokes in his arsenal on his training partners.
